Jang Shin-young Shines as a Single Mother in 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun'

Jang Shin-young made her debut as a single woman.

On the evening of the 9th at 7:05 PM, MBC aired the first episode of 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun' (directed by Kim Jin-hyung, written by Seol Kyung-eun), featuring the first appearance of Baek Seol-hee, played by Jang Shin-young.

In this episode, Baek Seol-hee is portrayed as a single mother living harmoniously with her daughter, Baek Mi-so, played by Lee Ru-da. Baek Seol-hee takes pride in her daughter, who, despite not having any special private education, successfully enters an international high school.

Baek Mi-so, in turn, is not ashamed of her mother's single status. At school, she confidently states, "My mom is a single mother," and adds, "She raised me without a father, fulfilling both parental roles."

Later, Baek Seol-hee expresses concern to Baek Mi-so, asking, "Does it come so naturally to say such things?" However, Baek Mi-so reassures her mother, saying, "If I'm okay with it, what can they do?" showing her affection for her mother.

Meanwhile, Min Kyung-chae, played by Yoon Ah-jung, recommends Moon Tae-kyung, played by Seo Ha-jun, to the company for business purposes. President Min Doo-sik, played by Jeon No-min, warns both Min Kyung-chae and Min Soo-jung, played by Ahn Yi-seo, saying, "I'll see which of you brings that guy to me," creating tension.

Min Kyung-chae warns Kim Sun-jae, played by Oh Chang-seok, to "be careful of Min Soo-jung." Meanwhile, Baek Seol-hee gets into an accident while riding a motorcycle for a delivery. Moon Tae-kyung notices the motorcycle about to fall on a child and heroically saves the child, with Baek Seol-hee falling onto Moon Tae-kyung in the process.
