K-pop group I-DLE shared their first impressions of the title track 'Good Thing' from their new album.
On the afternoon of the 19th, I-DLE held a press conference at the Chosun Palace in Gangnam to celebrate the release of their 8th mini-album 'We are'.
During the event, Soyeon expressed her desire to explore new storytelling avenues with the title track 'Good Thing'. She explained, "I wanted to tell a story that I-DLE has never done before. The song narrates a story about confronting a cheating partner. We experimented with new expressions and approaches. I hope listeners focus on the lyrics and find them intriguing."
Yuqi shared her initial reaction, saying, "When I first heard the demo, it felt like an electric shock. I was so surprised that I asked my sister, 'Is this autotune for real?' It was exciting to think that we were doing something I-DLE hadn't done before." Minnie added, "When I first heard the song, it reminded me of the time I fell in love with K-pop in Thailand, during an era when autotune was prevalent. It brought back a lot of memories."
'We are' marks I-DLE's first comeback album following the renewal of all members' contracts. The album transitions from the 'I' series, which began with their debut album 'I am', to 'We', symbolizing the group's collective journey. Notably, this is the first time all members have participated in writing and composing. The title track 'Good Thing' features a retro sound.
I-DLE's 8th mini-album 'We are' will be available on various music streaming platforms starting at 6 PM on the 19th.
