'Yadang' Becomes Top-Grossing Korean Film of 2025, Surpassing 'Hitman 2'

The film 'Yadang' has surpassed 'Hitman 2' in its fourth week of release, becoming the highest-grossing Korean film of the year.

'Yadang' is a crime action movie that weaves together the stories of a broker named Yadang, who designs the drug scene in South Korea, a prosecutor aiming for higher status, and a detective who is determined to eradicate drug crimes. According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, 'Yadang' recorded a cumulative audience of 2,551,792 as of the 5th, surpassing 'Hitman 2' (2,547,448) to become the top-grossing Korean film of 2025.

Additionally, 'Yadang' ranks as the second highest-grossing film of 2025 overall, following 'Mickey17'. This achievement is particularly significant as 'Yadang' is rated R and was released in April, traditionally considered a slow season for theaters. Previously, 'Yadang' broke the record set by 'Deadpool and Wolverine', becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film released after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

In its fourth week, 'Yadang' continues to draw audiences with its compelling performances, exhilarating storyline, and timely themes, encouraging repeat viewings.

'Yadang' is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
