Kim Hee-sun married Park Joo-young in October 2007 after a year of dating, having been introduced by a mutual friend in 2006. The couple has a daughter named Yeon-ah. Park Joo-young is the second son of Park Sung-kwang, chairman of the RakSan Group. He is known to run a beauty company in Apgujeong, reportedly generating annual sales in the 10 billion won range.
Previously, on a variety show, Kim revealed that her daughter Yeon-ah, currently in middle school, resembles her husband more than herself. "She seems to have inherited her father's personality," Kim said. "Even if she has to stay up all night, she finishes her homework and never procrastinates. Sometimes, I envy her discipline." Yeon-ah is known to have scored perfectly or nearly perfectly on a gifted child test before the age of six.
