Yoo Jae-myung revealed that he shaved his hair for the filming of 'Land of Happiness'.
On the 22nd, a production briefing session for the movie ‘Land of Happiness’ was held at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Director Choo Chang-min and actors Jo Jung-seok, Yoo Jae-myung, Jeon Bae-soo, Song Young-gyu, and Choi Won-young attended.
'Land of Happiness' is a film that tells the story of Park Tae-joo, who was involved in the presidential assassination case on October 26, 1979 by order of his superiors, and Jeong In-hu, a lawyer who entered Korea's worst political trial as his defense attorney.
Yoo Jae-myeong takes on the role of Jeon Sang-du, the head of the joint venture department, the center of a huge power that leads the unfair trial and causes a military rebellion for dangerous ambitions. Jeon Sang-doo is a character modeled after Chun Doo-hwan. Yoo Jae-myeong introduced the character as "a symbolic figure. A person with personal desires that suppresses the desires of ordinary people and citizens, uses expedient methods, and conceals the truth with unreasonable tactics." He continued, "Although the motif is a real person, there are parts where I tried not to spoil the quality of the work. I was worried about portraying the character of General Jeon, who was neither too prominent nor too lacking. I told the director, 'I feel overwhelmed' and 'I feel burdened.' “I asked to make it together.”
Yoo Jae-myeong shaved his head to resemble a real person and created a similar appearance. Yoo Jae-myeong said, "I shaved my head and lived in that state for 4-5 months. Even people at home were surprised. Even though I always wore a hat, I hid my hair in everyday life. My colleagues also came to support me and were surprised. When I got home, I went to the house." “I hung up a still photo, and people who came to the house were surprised,” he said.
‘Land of Happiness’ will be released on August 14th.
