The movie ‘The Four Seasons of Lipse’ (directed by DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman) has confirmed its domestic release in January 2024.
‘The Four Seasons of Lipse’ is an oil painting animation that depicts the passionate desires and inevitable fate of the yagna and village people against the background of the four seasons of the village of Lipse, Poland in the late 1800s. This is the second oil painting animation from the director of ‘Loving Vincent.’
It was screened as an official invitation to the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival, and was also selected as Poland's entry in the international feature film category at next year's Academy Awards. While 'Loving Vincent' stimulated the audience's interest by tracing the mysterious death of painter Vincent van Gogh, 'The Four Seasons of Lipse' is said to be a delicate portrayal of the story based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel.
Set in the small town of Lipse in Poland in the late 1800s, the desires and fate of the villagers gradually become stronger over the course of the four seasons, the powerful drawings, dynamic music, and animation that is more sophisticated than the previous work are expected to captivate audiences. Masterpieces by 30 painters, including Millet's 'The Gleaners', Vermeer's 'Girl with a Pearl Earring', and Haeumonsky's 'Indian Summer', will be vividly brought to life in the film.
