Yoo Ah-in's first trial was scheduled to be held on the 14th of last month on charges of violation of the Narcotics Control Act (hypopathy), etc., but he appointed an additional lawyer and submitted an application to change the date. Yoo Ah-in has assembled a luxurious defense team of eight people, including the Chief Judge of the High Court and the former head of the Narcotics Department at the Prosecutors' Office. The first trial is scheduled to take place this month.

Yoo Ah-in is accused of habitually administering propofol 181 times from September 2020 to March of last year, and illegally prescribing sleeping pills under someone else's name 44 times from May 2021 to August of last year. There are a total of four types of medical narcotics confirmed to have been administered by Yoo Ah-in, including propofol, midazolam, ketamine, and remimazolam. In addition, he is also accused of smoking marijuana in the United States with four other people, including his accomplice, an acquaintance named Choi (32), last January, and of instructing others to smoke.

Previously, Yoo Ah-in avoided both arrest warrants and was handed over to trial without detention. The court judged that there was a lack of necessity and reasonableness to imprison Yoo Ah-in, citing the fact that a significant amount of evidence had been secured and that he had admitted to some of the crimes. In addition, the reason was that they wanted to guarantee the right to defense because there was room for dispute about some of the charges.
