Already a month… Police, is the only evidence for Lee Sun-gyun and G-Dragon's drug charges being the testimony of the female chief of staff?

It's been a month since the drug scandal. Is the only evidence available is the testimony of the female manager of an entertainment establishment?

The investigation into actor Lee Sun-gyun (48) and Big Bang's G-Dragon (35, Kwon Ji-yong), who are suspected of drug use, is difficult. It has been over a month since the incident began, and the police seem to be in a panic, unable to find any significant evidence.

On the 23rd of last month, the police booked Lee Seon-kyun on charges of violating the Narcotics Management Act and summoned him twice. When drug charges against him arose, G-Dragon actively denied the charges and claimed his innocence. Finally, on the 6th, he voluntarily appeared and submitted body hair and urine to prove the charges. Afterwards, G-Dragon once again claimed his innocence through an interview with a media outlet.

According to the legal community on the 20th, the National Forensic Service notified the Incheon Police Agency's drug crime investigation unit that a recent detailed analysis of Kwon Ji-yong's hair and other items came back negative. The National Forensic Service previously announced that Lee Seon-gyun's hair analysis result came back negative. Accordingly, the police tried to capture evidence through leg hair, but the National Forensic Service is said to have reported the opinion that "analysis is impossible due to the insufficient weight of the (body hair)."

As Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon received negative results one after another in detailed tests by the National Forensic Service, criticism of the police's unreasonable investigation continues. Although the results of G-Dragon's finger and toenail examination remain, some say that it is actually a useless test as it is known that the measurement period for fingernails is shorter than that of hair.

Considering all the circumstances, the only evidence the police have is the claim of Mr. A (29, female), the manager of a Gangnam entertainment establishment who was arrested on charges of drug and marijuana use. In particular, in the case of drug offenders, people involved in the case are often brought in to reduce their sentences, so it is unclear whether this claim alone can be sufficient evidence.

However, the police are frowning at the fact that they are ‘blaming the media’ for the incident. The police previously said, “The investigation is not easy as the fact was known at the internal investigation stage (investigation before admission) before clear evidence was secured.” This is an acknowledgment of the mistake made by the police, who failed in security at the internal investigation stage and whose aftermath is ongoing.

Regarding the negative test result from G-Dragon's hair, he said, "Didn't the media investigate first?" and "We are investigating other areas and are working to close this case as soon as possible." The police plan to continue the investigation, risking their lives to secure evidence.
