Photographer Kim Jung-man passes away while fighting pneumonia


Photographer Kim Jung-man passed away on the 31st while battling pneumonia. Age 68.

According to the bereaved family, writer Kim Jung-man reportedly passed away around 10 am on this day.

When he was in his third year of middle school, he went to the African country of Burkina Faso with his father, who was working as a government doctor. Afterwards, he studied Western painting at the National University of Applied Arts in Nice, France.

The deceased returned to Korea after completing his studies in France in 1979. Afterwards, he made a name for himself as a commercial artist by working with celebrities, and also worked on posters for movies such as 'The Host', 'Tazza', and 'The Bittersweet Life'.

Since 2006, he has stopped doing commercial photography and has captured the beauty of Korea's natural landscapes, including Dokdo, on camera and held exhibitions. Taking advantage of his experience staying in Africa, he became the first Korean author to publish an African photo book.

Meanwhile, the funeral was set up at the funeral hall of Korea University Anam Hospital. The funeral will be held on the 3rd.
