Interview with Park So-dam as Yuriko in ‘Ghost’
On the 16th, Park So-dam told stories about her work and life in an interview with the movie 'Ghost' (director Lee Hae-young) at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Park So-dam, who suffered from papillary thyroid cancer last year, said her condition had improved significantly and she was able to travel to Europe alone for the first time. Starting from Barcelona, Spain, I traveled alone and healed for about a month to Switzerland, London, and Iceland. As Park So-dam's illness was reported overseas, she also received support from global fans.
"I'm 32 years old. I felt like I went on a backpacking trip that I hadn't been able to do since I was a college student. I packed food in my backpack and went around. As I was traveling around Europe, a lot of people noticed me. They said, 'I enjoyed the drama,' and asked, 'Are you okay?' There were people who asked questions. In particular, I received a lot of questions like, ‘Did you come alone?’ or ‘Did you come to work?’ Since I went alone, most of them took pictures.”
Park So-dam said, "They remember me a lot through 'Parasite,' and they also told me more stories about 'Record of Youth' that I filmed with actor Park Bo-gum than I expected. They also knew about 'Cinderella and the Four Knights.'" She said, "I was also remembered by overseas fans who saw me in 'Parasite.'" Their reactions were also reported.
Although it was definitely a hardship in her life, fighting cancer was not 100% bad for Park So-dam. Through pain, I learned how to take care of myself and reflect on myself.
"I've been through things in my life that I shouldn't have to go through, but I think to myself, 'You were really sick.' I think I locked myself out because I was so sick at the time. Thanks to that, I was able to think about how I could live a happy and healthy life. “It was really difficult to stay still, but thanks to being sick, I was able to rest and think about how I lived and how I wanted to live.”
Park So-dam also said, "Right now, my skin has turned over due to hormonal imbalance. The surgery area and many other areas are still stagnant, so I am doing Pilates 5-6 times a week to find my own pattern and create a flow." "After doing this, I don't have as much physical strength as I used to, but when I think about this time last year, I feel healthy and happy every day these days," he said with a smile.
'Ghost' is a story about the desperate struggle of suspects trapped in a remote hotel under suspicion as 'ghosts', spies planted by an anti-Japanese organization planted in the Japanese Government-General of Korea in Gyeongseong in 1933, and the unstoppable operation of the real 'ghosts' to overcome suspicion and escape. .
