Director Im Soon-rye, who directed the movie ‘Negotiation’, mentioned Hyun Bin.
On the morning of the 16th, director Lim Soon-rye told various stories about the upcoming movie 'Negotiation' at a cafe located in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Negotiation' is a movie depicting the negotiation operation between a diplomat and a local National Intelligence Service agent who went to Afghanistan to rescue Koreans who were taken hostage by the Taliban in the worst kidnapping incident.
Through 'negotiation', director Soon-rye Lim focuses on the sense of duty as a professional of 'those who went to rescue' and the life-threatening struggle to save their lives, rather than the provocative nature of the incident. In addition, the world of director Lim Soon-rye's work, which is about humanity and respect for life, is presented with a higher and broader thematic awareness and scale. In particular, 'Negotiation' was based on the 'Saemmul Church missionary kidnapping incident in Afghanistan' that took place in 2007.
Hwang Jung-min played the role of Jeong Jae-ho, a diplomat specializing in negotiations, Hyun Bin played Park Dae-sik, a National Intelligence Service agent specializing in the Middle East and Central Asia, and Kang Ki-young played Kassim, a weed-like Korean who survived in the back alleys of Afghanistan.
On this day, director Lim Soon-rye said about Hyun Bin, "I wanted to give Hyun Bin a role with a new atmosphere. I always did only beautiful things, but I wanted to show the NIS that is a little more rough and free, not the NIS that we always see, but a man who lives a cool but lonely life in the Middle East. In fact, Hyun Bin "The role of the actor is not large. Even if you play one top or two top roles, they are always equal, but in 'Negotiation', the role is small, but I think the timing was right for what I wanted to do with actor Hwang Jung-min."
He continued, "After actor Hyun Bin's casting was decided, should I say that each actor has his own brand? Isn't there something that the fan base expects? Because I don't know what actor Hwang Jung-min's fans expect and what actor Hyun Bin's fans expect, to some extent, "It was used within the scope allowed in the movie. If the actor said he didn't want to do it, he wouldn't have done it, but the actor willingly said he would do it," he added.
Director Lim Soon-rye said, "Actor Hyun Bin's beard is a mix of real life and makeup. When I said that I wanted actor Hyun Bin to show a different side in this movie, it seemed like the actor also put a lot of thought into how he would look. Hairstyle, beard, “We talked about the costumes, etc. in detail. I was just looking at actor Hyun Bin’s sleek appearance and wondered how his beard would react, but I think people are paying more attention to him than I expected,” he said, expressing his satisfaction.
Director Lim Soon-rye also said, "Hyun Bin did a lot of action scenes in 'Confidential Assignment' and other movies. The martial arts teams that went with him this time were the teams that always did action scenes with actor Hyun Bin. It is no exaggeration to say that actor Hyun Bin did most of the action. “It’s not a really good motorcycle, but I think I have good motor skills and a good sense of action.”
