On the morning of the 7th, a video press conference for ‘The Marvels’ (director Nia DaCosta) was held. Director Nia DaCosta attended the event.

'The Marvels' is a hero action blockbuster in which Carol Danvers, the hero who protects the universe, unexpectedly encounters a new team play as she falls into a crisis where she switches positions with Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel Kamala Khan every time she uses her abilities.

When asked how she felt about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as a director for the first time and whether she felt any pressure about directing the sequel to the series, director Nia DaCosta said, "When I heard the news (of being confirmed as director), I couldn't believe it. I was a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I was excited to have fun working on it. Rather than making a sequel to ‘Captain Marvel,’ my idea was to make sequels to all of ‘Secret Invasion,’ ‘WandaVision,’ and ‘Ms. Marvel,’ and I hoped that the journey would be conveyed well,” he explained.

When asked what differentiates 'The Marvels', he said, "The movie is a story about Captain Marvel, Rambo, and Ms. Marvel teaming up and crossover. As the three characters change positions, they move towards why this happens and how to stop it. "We're moving forward. In the meantime, we're approaching a catastrophic situation in the universe," he said.

Even before its release, 'The Marbles' attracted attention due to the casting of Korean actor Park Seo-joon. Director Nia DaCosta, who has always been interested in Korean content, said, "When I was 17 to 19 years old, I was immersed in Korean culture regardless of genre. I watched a lot of Korean dramas and entertainment shows. The dramas were 'My Name is Kim Sam-soon' and 'On Air.' ', I watched 'The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince' a lot, so I knew the actors well," he said, expressing his affection.

Regarding the reason for casting Park Seo-joon, who played the role of Prince Yan, and his impressions of working with him, he said, "There was a time when I couldn't watch Korean dramas for a few years, but when the coronavirus pandemic was underway, I got to know actor Park Seo-joon after watching the drama 'Itaewon Class'. At the time, he appeared in 'Captain.' “Marvel’s offer came in, and I thought actor Park Seo-joon was a good fit for the character of Prince Yan. He’s an actor with great talent and great energy, so I had fun working on set,” he said.

Park Seo-joon, who made his Hollywood debut, is the third Korean actor to appear in the MCU, following Soo-hyun, who appeared in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', and Ma Dong-seok, who appeared in 'Eternals'. Accordingly, Korean audiences have high expectations for Prince Yan's screen size and role. Director Nia DaCosta said about the role of Prince Jan, "Through this film, I wanted to return to the past of 'Captain Marvel'. Although the screen time is short, the character has a strong presence. He is a person with a deep connection to Captain Marvel. “There is a connection between the two in that there are people around them that they want to protect,” he said.

‘The Marvels’ is mainly about Captain Marvel collaborating with Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel. The two have been introduced in the dramas 'WandaVision' and 'Ms Marvel', but this is their first time appearing in cinema. When asked about the point of focus on the relationship between the three heroes, director Nia DaCosta said, "It was important to achieve harmony. Although this is the second installment of Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel are introduced for the first time through the film. In achieving balance, each of them had their own individual characteristics. "We tried to weave the stories together into a common story. In the process of resolving the conflict, we focused on letting the three wonderful characters shine through each person's individual stories and journeys," he explained.

Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel switch locations when they use their abilities. There must have been difficulties in coordinating the actions. Director Nia DaCosta said, "It was a fun and challenging task. It was possible thanks to the great staff and we tried to convey a clear vision. We also tried to differentiate the action style in the battle scenes, because the characters have different personalities and powers. Captain Marvel is “The power is great, Monica Rambeau is meticulous, and Ms. Marvel is young, so I tried to highlight her genius.”

Nia DaCosta, director of 'The Marvels', which is scheduled to be released in Korea on November 8th, shared her thoughts and greetings with Korean audiences. Director Nia DaCosta said, "(surprisingly) November 8th, the date of the Korean release, is my birthday. I hope you enjoy the movie. It will be a birthday present to you all. Please give us a lot of interest. Thank you."

‘The Marbles’ will be released in Korea on the 8th.
