Music director Jeong Jae-il visited the public with his sincerity in music.
Jeong Jae-il held a press conference commemorating the release of his album 'LISTEN' at 11 am on the 24th at the JCC Art Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
In this album, Jeong Jae-il unfolds the idea of love for nature, humanity, and the hope that people who live together can listen to each other through a piano-centered orchestral sound.
Also noteworthy are the studio and orchestra that participated in the work. The piano performance was recorded at Rainbow Studios in Norway, a legendary recording studio.
The string sound collaborated once again with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, which previously participated in the work of 'Parasite', 'Okja', and Jeong Jae-il's album 'psalms'.
On this day, Jeong Jae-il said, "I released my first album since 2004. At the time, I had a dream of becoming a singer-songwriter and released an album called 'Tear Flower.' At that time, I felt that my capabilities were not enough, so I gave up my dream of becoming a singer-songwriter." He said.
He continued, "I've been working behind the scenes. I've been working as an assistant to artists, but last year, I received an offer from a place called 'Decca' to 'do something of my own.' I couldn't be a singer-songwriter yet. So, rather than singer-songs, I received an offer to 'do something of my own.' “I think I’ll try it as a ‘lighter,’” he said.
He said, "When I first started working on a solo album, I had a big thought of 'what can I do?', so I tried not to do it. However, based on the experience I have accumulated over the past 20 years, I tried to make 'music just for the sake of music.'" did.
The recording period took about 10 days. Jeong Jae-il said he focused on recording for about 7 hours a day. Regarding the album 'Listen', he explained, "I think the emotions have accumulated and become one huge mountain. It is an album that contains the feeling of leading to a climax by adding orchestral music to fragmented piano melodies."
Meanwhile, Jeong Jae-il is a person who received favorable reviews for his role as music director in the movies 'Parasite' and 'Squid Game'.
