Actress Ji-na Son, who played the role of Park Yeon-jin (played by Lim Ji-yeon)'s mother in the Netflix series 'The Glory', shared her heart-warming feelings.
Ji-na Son said, “I am grateful and honored to be able to work with my colleagues who worked on ‘The Glory’ on a work that I made with all my might,” and recalled her parents, who passed away while filming the work.
He said, “Personally, my mother passed away when I started filming ‘The Glory’, and my father passed away shortly after Part 1 was released.” He continued, “From the start of filming, I resumed my acting career under the real name ‘Jina Son’ that my parents gave me. I am thankful that my father saw that and was able to recover. ‘The Glory’ is a work I will never forget in my life,” he said.
'The Glory', starring Ji-na Son, is a work that tells the story of a woman whose soul was broken by violence in her childhood, who risks her entire life to carefully prepare a cruel revenge, and of those who fall into the vortex. ‘The Glory’ Part 1 was released on December 30th last year, followed by Part 2 of ‘The Glory’ on March 10th, and received a lot of love around the world.
Ji-na Son played the role of Hong Yeong-ae, Park Yeon-jin's mother, in the play. Her name, which was not revealed in Part 1, was revealed through Part 2, drawing attention. Ji-na Son especially captured the public's attention with her powerful charisma and unwavering vocalization, acting like a true mother of Yeon-jin Park.

In the play, Hong Young-ae (played by Son Ji-na) trembled in fear when Lee Seok-jae (Ryu Seong-hyun), who was acting on Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-kyo)'s scheme, threatened her after finding out about her daughter Park Yeon-jin's (Lim Ji-yeon) crime. Hong Young-ae planned the murder of Yeonhwadang shaman (played by Yoon Jin-seong) and Lee Seok-jae, and even took Shin Young-jun (played by Lee Hae-young) with her and committed the murder solely for her own survival. Jina Son's brutal facial expression that transforms fear into madness gave a refreshing shock to the viewers.
Hong Young-ae especially said to Park Yeon-jin, who came to pick her up after completing the police investigation, “Everyone makes mistakes. But there is no solution. He left a strong impact with the line, “I’m always in front.”
Ji-na Son, who recalled this scene, said, “Why wouldn’t Young-ae Hong, who teaches her daughter to confidently look ahead, try to look back? My concerns began with the question, and I focused on the deep fears of Hong Young-ae's character, who did not want to leave any stains on her life. “We also focused on expressing the cold and hot temperatures she exudes in a variety of ways,” he explained.

Ji-na Son said, “The scene where Lee Seok-jae is murdered on a night of heavy rain is a scene that shows Hong Young-ae’s bare face full of madness, where Hong Young-ae is willing to abandon anyone, not even her daughter, for her own survival, and can even cover up the truth.” The scene where Ae was best expressed was introduced.
He also said, “Hong Young-ae, who only tried to protect her own survival, ended up in prison as a murderer, and her final face with everything destroyed was just an empty face,” and the last scene of Hong Young-ae turning away from her daughter Park Yeon-jin in prison. It was selected as a memorable scene.
Ji-na Son revealed the character Hong Young-ae very strongly and clearly in the short scenes. In particular, in the scene where Son Ji-na confirms that Hong Young-ae, who has enormous wealth, has kept the name tag, which is evidence of her daughter Park Yeon-jin's murder, in a secret safe, she says, “The truth of Hong Young-ae, who appears glamorous with wealth and power, is based on a deep darkness that she wants to hide. “These are key scenes that are clearly shown,” he explained.

Ji-na Son said, “While meeting Hong Young-ae, my whole body really ached. Hong Young-ae felt that hating and harming someone so much would drive her into pain. “I learned a lot about the dignity of life and the value of love, and I will cherish them in my heart,” she said, expressing her thoughts about playing Hong Young-ae, who is vicious and does anything for herself.
Lastly, she said, “I am deeply grateful to the many fans around the world. I am truly happy that the work we created together is receiving so much love. He did not forget to say thank you, saying, “I will not lose my original intention and will move forward humbly and calmly as an actor and as a person.”
