Press screening of director Lee Byung-hun's film 'Dream'
Even ‘Dream’ director Lee Byung-hun can’t shake off the slump in Korean cinema.
When asked about the results expected from director Lee Byung-hun's new film 'Dream', he said, 'I can't give a cocky answer.' This is an answer that cannot be laughed at amidst the unprecedented slump in Korean cinema.

On the afternoon of the 17th, a press preview of the movie 'Dream' (directed by Lee Byung-hun) was held at Megabox COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and actors Park Seo-joon, IU, Kim Jong-su, Ko Chang-seok, Jeong Seung-gil, Lee Hyun-woo, Yang Hyun-min, Hong Wan-pyo, and Heo Jun-seok, as well as director Lee Byung-hun attended. .

Director Lee Byung-hun, who attracted 16.23 million viewers with the movie 'Extreme Job' (2019), was asked what kind of response and performance he expected from 'Dream'. Director Lee said, “If I had been asked this question in good times, I would have answered a bit arrogantly, but now it’s been so long and I’m nervous.”

At the same time, he hoped that 'Dream' would be of some help to the currently stagnant domestic film market. Director Lee said, “Even if it’s not a relief pitcher, I hope it helps to some extent.” He added, “Not only for ‘Dream,’ the atmosphere is very down and the situation is not good, but it’s a movie that we worked hard to make, so I hope it helps the film industry.”

Recently, the Korean film industry has suffered an unprecedented slump and is in a stagnant state, hardly able to rise. In this situation, the humble answer of director Lee Byung-hun, who has a record of great box office scores, attracted attention.

Director Lee expressed his gratitude to the two lead actors, emphasizing, "It was possible because Park Seo-joon and IU joined and agreed on the meaning of this story."

Coach Lee Byung-hun then said about the message he wanted to convey through 'Dream', "I wanted to say that even if we fall a little behind or fall behind in life, it is important that we are in the stadium," and "It is important to win, but it is also important to play. “I wanted to say that the fact that we are doing our best on the field means that the game is not over yet,” he emphasized.

'Dream', which became a hot topic due to the meeting between Park Seo-joon and IU, is the story of Hong Dae (played by Park Seo-joon), a former soccer player with no concept, and So-min (played by IU), a passionless producer, who challenge an impossible dream with a ragtag group of homeless national team players. It is an adaptation of the true story of the 2010 Homeless World Cup, in which Korea participated for the first time.

‘Dream’ will be released on April 26th.
