On the afternoon of the 3rd, an online production presentation for tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'The Tale of the Nine-Tailed Fox 1938' was held, and director Kang Shin-hyo and actors Lee Dong-wook, Kim So-yeon, Kim Beom, and Ryu Kyung-soo attended.
'Tale of the Nine-Tailed Fox 1938' is a K-fantasy action drama in which Lee Yeon, a nine-tailed fox who crash-landed in the era of chaos in 1938, tries to return to modern times. It returned three years after Season 1 with dynamic action, scale, and more diverse folktale characters in an original worldview that exquisitely weaved indigenous gods and native monsters.
On this day, Lee Dong-wook expressed his confidence in Season 2, saying, "It is an honor to be able to do my beloved 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' once again. There was some pressure, but I daresay you will be satisfied. If it is not as fun as Season 1, there is no reason to do it." .
Lee Dong-wook explained, "Season 1 ended with a happy ending with his first love, but due to some kind of incident, he was dispatched and that was in 1938. It was a time when he owed a lot to the world, so it was difficult, but there was a reason, so please watch." .
Director Kang Shin-hyo, who directed Season 2 following Season 1, said, “There were many people who loved Season 1, so we were able to gather again. “Thank you for taking this opportunity,” he began, adding, “If season 1 was a story about Lee Yeon’s personal romance, in season 2, I wanted to talk about the things Lee Yeon gave up for love. We tried to introduce various actions and new monsters that were not possible in Season 1. “Everything is there except the male protagonist’s melodrama,” he explained.
Lee Dong-wook had a happy ending by marrying Nam Ji-ah (played by Jo Bo-ah) in Season 1 of ‘Tale of the Nine-Tailed’. Lee Dong-wook added, “I’m a married man, so there shouldn’t be any romance.”
Kim Beom said, “The difference from the first season was that the monsters were mixed in with the human world, but this time, the main world of monsters appears directly. “I think you will enjoy it because there is a lot of conflict, action, and reconciliation,” he said.
Kim So-yeon takes on the role of Ryu Hong-ju, the owner of Myoyeon-gak, a high-end restaurant in Gyeongseong, and a former western mountain god with tremendous strength. Regarding the reason for choosing 'Tale of the Nine-Tailed Fox 1938', he said, "I really wanted to try fantasy." He then confessed, "I really wanted to work on a work with a character that didn't seem to exist, a mountain god riding on a wire, but when I received the offer, I was so happy that I was blown away. I thought I would never meet him in this life, but he came and I did it with a happy heart."
Ryu Kyung-soo plays Cheon Mu-yeong, a master who can revive the dead. He said, "I also had a lot of interest in fantasy. When I read the script, it was very interesting and I thought I could have fun with it. I was also looking forward to working with people I was meeting for the first time." He added, "The only thing I'm worried about is my friends with Lee Dong-wook and Kim So-yeon. “I was appearing in the role, but I was worried whether I would be able to fit in well because I am young and lack experience,” he said honestly, attracting attention.
Lastly, Ryu Kyung-soo revealed the viewing point, saying, "It contains scenery from all over the region and has many colorful things to see, so you can watch it without noticing the passage of time."
