Actor Lee Sun-gyun expressed his impressions of visiting the 76th Cannes International Film Festival with 'Sleep' four years after the movie 'Parasite'.
On the 21st (local time) at 11:00 am, the world premiere of 'Sleep' was officially screened at the Espace Miramar Theater in Cannes, France. Invited to the Critics' Week at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival, 'Sleep' tells the story of the happy newlyweds Hyeon-su (Lee Seon-gyun) and Su-jin (Jung Yu-mi), who are haunted by her husband Hyeon-su's abnormal behavior during sleep and the terrible secret of fear that begins the moment he falls asleep. It tells the story of two people trying to solve it.
Director Yoo Jae-sun, Jung Yu-mi, and Lee Seon-kyun, the main characters of 'Sleep', appeared in the theater prior to the official screening, and raised the atmosphere to the fullest by posing in a relaxed manner to the enthusiastic response of the audience. Director Yoo Jae-sun, who entered Cannes as the first feature film he wrote and directed himself, said, "'Sleep' is my debut film, and I am so honored to be able to show it on the stage of Cannes. Being able to film with two wonderful actors is a big deal. It was a joy and an honor. Please enjoy watching it."
Jung Yu-mi said, "It's director Yoo Jae-sun's first film, and I'm happy to come to Cannes with director Lee Seon-gyun, and I hope you enjoy the movie." Lee Sun-gyun said, "I am happy, proud, and honored to be able to make my debut at Cannes. I am so overwhelmed and excited. Also, I am watching a movie together with my family for the first time, and I hope that the children will not be afraid and have fun watching it." He expressed his impressions of attending the Critics' Week at the Cannes International Film Festival.
When the opening credits appeared following the tense intro scene, the audience welcomed the work with applause. The mysterious story and unpredictable development from the common subject of 'sleep' created a sense of tension and suspense, and the good performance and perfect breathing of the two actors Yumi Jung and Sunkyun Lee made the audience more immersed.
