The feature of this project, which will be released through YG SELECT and Weverse Shop, is the use of upcycled materials.
'Upcycle' is a compound word of upgrade and recycle, and can be called 'upcycle' in Korean. It is a concept that creates new value by adding design to discarded resources or changing the way they are used.
In particular, waste banners used for concerts are incinerated because they do not rot when buried. YG PLUS recreated concert banners and leather waste into sensuously designed tote bags, pencil cases, and wallets to reduce carbon dioxide emissions generated during incineration.
The main products of the 「Your Green YG」 project include a reversible tote bag made from recycled waste banners for BLACKPINK and TREASURE concerts, a DIY pencil case and a DIY wallet made from waste leather. Among WINNER, BLACKPINK, and TREASURE, fans can choose their preferred artist option.
In addition, from June 5th to 30th, a keyring presentation event will be held for YG SELECT members at YG PLACE in Insa-dong and the SameE offline store in Hapjeong-dong, Seoul. When collecting waste bottle caps and walking more than 5,000 steps, you can choose one of three key rings (WINNER, BLACKPINK, TREASURE).
Based on data from the Forest Service, a YG PLUS official said, “The waste leather and waste banners used this time (when incinerated) are the amount that 878 trees should absorb for one year, which is equivalent to the carbon emissions produced when producing about 130,000 disposable paper cups.” and emphasized the environmental protection effect of 「Your Green YG」 project.
