'Doctor Cha Jeong-sook' Kim Byeong-cheol "A cute villain? I was prepared to be criticized... It was a big mistake to commit an affair"

Actor Kim Byeong-cheol revealed that he made an effort to express the 'villain' character without hating it.

Recently, I had an interview with actor Kim Byeong-cheol, who I met at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at the end of the JTBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor Cha Jeong-sook'.

'Doctor Cha Jeong-sook', which ended on the 4th, is a work that contains the story of Cha Jeong-suk's life, from being a housewife for 20 years to becoming a resident for 1 year. In the play, Kim Byeong-cheol took on the role of Seo In-ho, the chief of colon and rectal surgery and Cha Jeong-suk's husband, and showed off his charm as a 'demonic man'. Even though he is a 'bad husband' who had a child out of wedlock with Choi Seung-hee, an adulterous woman, he managed to control the level of the play with his charm that he could not hate.

It must not have been easy to look like a villain without hating them. In response, Kim Byung-cheol said, "Seo In-ho is a villain no matter how you look at it", but "Actually, in a way, he is a person who has a good side. I don't think there is anyone who is only bad. I think that even a very bad person has a positive side. I kept that in mind when I was doing it, and I tried to draw like a living person."

What on earth would Seo In-ho look like in a positive way? Kim Byeong-cheol smiled shyly and said, "You look like a fool? Still, when I'm with Choi Seung-hee, I do my best for Seung-hee, and when I'm with Cha Jeong-suk, I do my best as a married couple, and as a father, I'm coercive, but all of these can be seen as actions to lead the family well." I noticed. He said, "Of course, I committed adultery, which is the biggest mistake. But when I think about it for a moment, Jeong-sook is also a smart woman. If In-ho didn't have good things at all, I wouldn't have been able to live with her during that time."

Regarding the reaction that he was 'cute' even though he was an unlikable character, he said, "Actually, during filming, some of the staff said that he was cute. I was grateful and encouraged to think that he was talking as a colleague. I think they looked cute while feeling sorry for them," he said.

There was no pressure to play a villain, but he was worried that he would be seen as similar to Minhyuk Cha from 'Sky Castle'. Kim Byeong-cheol said, "I thought that I could be criticized more because I was a realistic villain. I didn't feel burdened by the condition itself. I thought it would be a good evaluation to be criticized because it's acting and expressing the appearance of a person." It was done because I thought it would have a similar feel to the 'SKY Castle' character. However, the situation I am in is different, the situation I am cheating on is definitely different, and there are a lot more comical parts, so I worked while thinking about the differences."

“I was worried that the character Seo In-ho was so negative that viewers might not want to see him. To alleviate that, I used a lot of comedy. It's difficult if you don't want to see it, haha."
