Actors Siwon Choi, Saeron Kim, and Suho Ha are being rediscovered through the Netflix series 'Hounds'. 'Hounds' is a Netflix series depicting the story of two young men who risk their lives against a huge evil force caught up in the world of loan sharks, where money takes precedence over people's lives. Director Kim Joo-hwan, who has shown strength in thrilling action and youth buddy combinations with 'Youth Police' and 'Lion', took charge of directing. Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi break down into righteous and courageous Geon-wu and Woo-jin, showing a closer chemistry than real brothers.
Thanks to word of mouth, 'Hounds' is rising to the ranks of a syndrome of popularity. According to Flix Patrol, an OTT ranking aggregation site on the 13th, Netflix's 'Hounds' scored 628 points and ranked second. It has risen 4 places from 6th place the previous day to 2nd place.
'Hounds' took first place in 10 countries including Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Turkey, and reached number 5 in the United States.
Above all, Woo Do-hwan, who plays the role of Geon-woo, portrayed the perfect boxer through severe self-management. The efforts of Woo Do-hwan, who created Geon-wu himself, from gestures, gaze, and voice, have borne fruit.
In fact, Woo Do-hwan prepared a boxed lunch every day to build a boxer's body and solved four meals a day with a boxed lunch. As a result, he gained 10kg and transformed into a strong muscular body in both upper and lower body.
In addition to Woo Do-hwan, high attention is being paid to characters such as Choi Si-won (Hong Min-beom), Kim Sae-ron (Hyeon-joo), and Ha Soo-ho (Jang-do) who lead the play together.
First, Siwon Choi transformed into a rough and unstable chaebol second generation in front of a dangerous power struggle. At once, she took off the comical and bright image that she had shown in 'Drinking City Women' and 'Love to Freeze'.
In the situation of being chased by a vicious loan shark, he drew anxious and precarious eyes and emotional lines. In the play, Choi Si-won was threatened by gangsters and forced to take a sexual video, making the play more interesting.
After Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-sang, and Park Seong-woong, Kim Sae-ron, who had the most screen time, was not applauded for her excellent acting. Because Kim Sae-ron caused a drunk driving accident in May of last year, the release date was delayed and a lot of editing had to be done.
Kim Sae-ron's fault is obvious. Because drunk driving is a dangerous act called potential murder. Kim Sae-ron, who got behind the wheel in a drunken state, left for her own downfall.
Unfortunately, when looking at the work while excluding his sins, Kim Sae-ron creates a sense of tension in the play with her unstoppable action. Not only did he have high-level driving skills full of composure, but he also completed a flamboyant act that rivaled that of male actors.
Ha Soo-ho also showed a thrilling performance and attracted attention with an impressive character. He took on the role of Im Jang-do, a servant of private moneylender Myeong-gil (Park Seong-woong). Not only clean up the organization's illegal activities, but also do anything for their own benefit. Ha Su-ho showed off his presence as a villain who cannot be hated through 'Hounds'.
I wonder how far the popularity of 'Hounds' will soar with such delicate directing and actors' strong acting skills. Expectations are high for a new record that will be written by "Hounds," which quickly rose to second place in the world.
