A high-level statement... Will it help Teen Top?
While the group Teen Top is making a comeback after 3 years, member Cap (real name Bang Min-soo), who announced his departure earlier, is continuing his remarks on the day toward K-pop culture. Cap is a person who has already caused controversy with inappropriate words and actions. It is unknown whether his revelations will be of any help to Teen Top.
Recently, a video titled 'Since when did idols become pseudo-love jobs' was uploaded on Cap's YouTube channel 'Bang Min-soo'.
In the released video, Cap said, "I'm going to tell you what I've felt like living as an idol for 14 years."
He continued, “The reason I think the idol culture is getting sicker is because the friends who are preparing to become idols are constantly being brainwashed by the company. I will continue to be brainwashed,” he said.
He said, "The company invested in them if they acted like that, but they know they'll fail, so they keep brainwashing them. Even the fans (idols) go into a frenzy if they do even the slightest mistake." It's different from how I feel."
He added, "Until I was a trainee, it was physical labor. After debuting, it became emotional labor. People I never expected would curse at me and throw stones at me."
Cap said, "XXX people are sexually harassed," and "male idols are also molested. There are people who do this with their buttocks and with their breasts. Really, this is where the mental starts to go out. Really weird guys ask me to do anything special." he revealed.
Cap previously drew attention for his inappropriate behavior and smoking. Afterwards, he announced his withdrawal, saying that the team's activities did not suit him.
He said, “I don’t know why they came to me and did that XX. When I thought about why (people) did that to me, who didn’t normally consume me, it was because I was a member of the team anyway, so it would harm the team.” I'm just thinking about not making a comeback. (Anyway) the contract ends in July."
It was an important period for Teen Top. Teen Top made a comeback today (4th). As long as they had a hiatus of about 3 years, there was no need for controversy other than the part about the album. The sudden departure of a member was enough to shake the group. However, Teen Top's comeback in July took place normally.
Leaving the team doesn't mean the problem is solved. Cap took a snipe at the company and group culture as well as K-pop. As mentioned at the time of withdrawal, distrust in the company and team remains. It is doubtful whether the disclosure made with conviction will positively affect the team he once worked for.
