K-Pop Star Hong Ji-yoon Addresses 'Silver Spoon' Rumors on 'Malja Show'

K-Pop singer Hong Ji-yoon clarified rumors about her 'silver spoon' status on the KBS 2TV variety show 'Malja Show'.

On the episode aired on the 4th, Hong Ji-yoon appeared on 'Malja Show' with the witty title 'Ji-yoon with a Bombshell Confession', where she shared her concerns and heartfelt stories.

Hong Ji-yoon expressed her excitement, saying, "As a passionate viewer of 'Malja Show', I have always found great comfort and empathy from watching it, and I really wanted to appear on the show. It's a stage coveted by many trot singers, and after fierce competition, I finally made it here."

With her unique sense of humor and bold aspirations, Hong Ji-yoon added, "I heard that senior Park Gun achieved the highest viewership rating of 3.1%. Today, I will do my best to break the 4% barrier," heating up the atmosphere on set.

Hong Ji-yoon also expressed her special gratitude to MC Kim Young-hee, saying, "During tough times, watching 'Malja Show' provided me with great solace. Especially, Kim Young-hee's famous saying, 'When you're walking through a dung field and standing still, the ground becomes fertile with natural manure,' became a strong support for me. I wanted to personally express my thanks."

The highlight of the episode was her clear explanation regarding the 'silver spoon' rumors. Hong Ji-yoon stated, "There's something I want to clarify to my colleagues. Rumors have circulated that I donate because of my wealth or that I sing trot as a hobby, but none of this is true." She further explained, "I am just an ordinary 'broke' person. If anything, I'm just a 'regular plastic spoon'."

In response, Kim Young-hee offered warm encouragement, saying, "A plastic spoon is the most sought-after and useful utensil in everyday life," to which Hong Ji-yoon was impressed by Kim Young-hee's clear and touching answer.
