Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun Embark on an Unpredictable Romance on a Remote Island in 'Doctor Island Boy'
On June 1st, ENA's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Doctor Island Boy' will premiere, and on May 30th, the production team released a teaser poster and the first teaser video, hinting at the challenging 'island life' of Do Ji-eui (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Yook Ha-ri (played by Shin Ye-eun).
'Doctor Island Boy' is a medical human romance set on the notorious island of 'Pyeongdongdo,' where public health doctor Do Ji-eui and the secretive nurse Yook Ha-ri find themselves. The story promises to deliver warm laughter and excitement as the 'island man and woman' meet the island's residents, who are as full of stories as they are of affection, learning to save people and discover love.
Based on the popular webtoon 'Endurance Doctor' by Kim Tae-poong, currently serialized on Kakao Page and Kakao Webtoon, 'Doctor Island Boy' is directed by Lee Myung-woo, known for his rhythmic direction and humor in works like 'The Fiery Priest.' The drama is expected to bring a fresh sense of excitement and emotion to the romance genre. Writer Kim Ji-soo, known for her delicate writing, ensures the drama's quality.
The first teaser video also hints at Do Ji-eui's challenging survival on 'Pyeongdongdo.' The public health doctor, who is okay with anything but the island, unexpectedly lands on the much-avoided Pyeongdongdo. His self-deprecating remark, "I was unlucky," and his tough day as an 'island boy' bring laughter. The presence of Yook Ha-ri, who might be his savior in the chaotic island village, adds to the intrigue. Whether Do Ji-eui can adapt to Pyeongdongdo and the story the island man and woman will create draws attention.
'Doctor Island Boy' premieres on June 1st at 10 PM on ENA. It will also be available on KT Genie TV and Disney Plus.
