Shin Ha-kyun's Dual Role in 'Fifties Professionals': From Secret Agent to Family Man
Premiering on May 22, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Fifties Professionals' tells the story of three seemingly ordinary men who are drawn back into action by fate. Despite being worn down by life and age, these men, who have lived half their lives, remain loyal and instinctive, delivering a salty action comedy.
Shin Ha-kyun takes on the role of 'Jung Ho-myung,' a chef at Oran Banjeom who has been waiting for ten years while hiding his past as a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent. After failing a crucial mission a decade ago, he headed to Yeongseon Island to clean up the mess. Now, he has settled into a life of cooking and delivering food. Just as his body and spirit are wearing thin, he discovers the cause of his failed mission from ten years ago.
The released stills depict a secret meeting between Jung Ho-myung and NIS team leader Jo Sung-won (played by Kim Sang-ho) from ten years ago, sparking curiosity. Jung Ho-myung's sharp gaze as he listens to Jo team leader recount the 'incident of that day,' a covert operation on a passenger ship, is intriguing. As Jo team leader continues to hide his identity for ten years in search of the missing 'item,' attention is drawn to whether their plan for revenge will come to fruition.
Another still shows Jung Ho-myung switching between his NIS identity and his role as a dedicated family man, running around for his family. His weary expression while delivering food, amid constant nagging from his father-in-law, Chairman Kwon (played by Lee Han-wi), and his wife, Kwon Oran (played by Shin Dong-mi), humorously highlights his low rank within the family. Interest is piqued in Shin Ha-kyun's portrayal of Jung Ho-myung's contrasting roles.
