Netflix's YA Horror Series 'GIRIGO' Climbs to Global Top 10 in Just Three Days

Netflix's YA horror series 'GIRIGO' has made a remarkable debut, securing the 4th spot in the global TOP 10 non-English shows within just three days of its release. The series has now unveiled exclusive stills and behind-the-scenes images.

'GIRIGO' tells the story of high school students who receive sudden death predictions due to a cursed wish-granting app. The series, released on April 24th, has garnered 2,800,000 views (calculated by dividing the total viewing hours by the show's runtime), earning it a place in the global TOP 10 non-English shows. It has also entered the TOP 10 lists in 37 countries, including South Korea, Mexico, India, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, and Turkey, showcasing its worldwide popularity.

'GIRIGO' is receiving praise from global media and viewers for its fresh take on the 'YA horror' genre. The newly released stills capture the intense struggle of characters trying to break the curse, revealing the narrative hidden behind it. The image of 'Se-ah' (Jeon So-young) cautiously reaching for her phone despite her terrified expression, and 'Haet-sal' (Jeon So-ni) aiming with a bow while bleeding, highlight their courage and determination to break the curse.

Stills featuring 'Hye-ryeong' (Kim Si-a) and 'Si-won' (Choi Joo-eun), once inseparable friends now entangled in the curse with their own grudges, remind viewers of their shocking storyline. The presence of 'Up-soon' (Lee Sang-hee), Si-won's mother and a shaman, adds a chilling atmosphere and reinforces her powerful role in the narrative.
