Musical Actress Kim So-hyun Leaves Lasting Impression with Special Appearance in '21st Century Grand Duchess'

Musical actress Kim So-hyun made a memorable special appearance in MBC's Friday-Saturday drama '21st Century Grand Duchess'.

Set in a constitutional monarchy in South Korea, '21st Century Grand Duchess' is a romantic drama that tells the story of Seong Hee-joo (played by IU), a woman who has everything but feels constrained by her commoner status, and Lee An-daegun, a prince who is sad because he cannot have anything. The drama is gaining explosive popularity with its unique world-building, stunning visuals, and sophisticated direction. Kim So-hyun's special appearance has drawn attention, adding depth to the storyline.

In the fifth episode, the warm mother-son relationship between young Lee An-daegun and Queen Uihyeon was depicted. When young Lee An-daegun, at his brother's request, begged to bring chicken to the palace, Queen Uihyeon affectionately replied, "Shall we do that then?" showing her love. However, the peaceful moment was short-lived as Queen Uihyeon's car collided with a truck, leading to her tragic death in front of young Lee An-daegun.

Despite her brief appearance, Kim So-hyun delivered a powerful impact, heightening the drama's tension. Her delicate emotional acting convincingly portrayed the character's inner world, and her restrained expressions conveyed warm maternal love, leaving a deep impression.

Meanwhile, Kim So-hyun is set to meet audiences at the '2026 Son Jun-ho & Kim So-hyun Concert: Uri, Moni?' on December 16th and 17th at the ECC Samsung Hall, Ewha Womans University in Seoul.
