Supermodels Lee So-ra and Hong Jin-kyung Reunite for a Bold Paris Fashion Week Challenge

Supermodels Lee So-ra and Hong Jin-kyung have opened up in a candid interview.

MBC's new reality show 'So-ra and Jin-kyung' (directed by Kang Sung-ah, Jang Ha-rin, Yoon Dong-wook, written by Shin Jae-kyung) follows the journey of first-generation supermodels Lee So-ra and Hong Jin-kyung as they reignite their passion for the runway, taking on the daring challenge of Paris Fashion Week. After a 15-year hiatus, the duo reunites, sharing their unspoken thoughts and emotions as they prepare for this ambitious yet beautiful endeavor.

Lee So-ra shared the reason for reuniting with Hong Jin-kyung after 15 years, saying, "We hadn't been in touch for a long time, but seeing her age gracefully sparked my curiosity about the person Hong Jin-kyung has become." She added, "The desire to meet her in person was the decisive factor in accepting the show." Hong Jin-kyung also reflected on their reunion, saying, "Meeting her made me wonder why I hadn't reached out sooner."

Regarding the core challenge of 'Paris Fashion Week,' both models, despite their veteran status, candidly admitted to feeling pressure. At 56, Lee So-ra expressed, "Initially, I thought it was impossible. The harsh memories from my modeling days lingered like trauma." She continued, "However, I hope this challenge will heal those old wounds. Above all, I found meaning in the challenge itself."

Hong Jin-kyung, in her return as 'Model Hong Jin-kyung,' shared her anxieties, highlighting the support from her daughter, Rael. She confessed, "The pressure of possibly failing auditions on a national broadcast was overwhelming," but added, "My daughter Rael encouraged me, saying, 'Mom, your face is unique. There's no one like you on the street. You can definitely walk the show,' which gave me great strength."

The show will also capture the real struggles faced in Paris. Lee So-ra revealed, "The loneliness and endless waiting for casting were tough. It was a moment when I finally understood the struggles of younger models working abroad." Hong Jin-kyung noted, "Unlike other shows, this one required me to share my personal story, so I gave it my all every day. Viewers will see a more serious and genuine side of me."

MBC's 'So-ra and Jin-kyung' premieres on Sunday, April 26, at 9:10 PM.
