Mnet Unveils New Dance Survival Show 'Street World Fighter: Directors' War'
In August, Mnet will introduce a new dance survival show titled 'Street World Fighter: Directors' War' (abbreviated as 'SWF'). This series follows the global phenomenon 'Street Woman Fighter' and aims to spotlight 'global performance directors' who create stages beyond 'world-class dancers.'
The series will feature a competition among 'performance directors' who oversee choreography creation, stage composition, direction, and storytelling. This new dimension of survival goes beyond who dances better to who creates the most compelling 'work.'
The teaser video for the performance directors, released on the 21st, has already garnered significant global attention. It features glimpses of massive stages like the MAMA AWARDS, Coachella, the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the Olympic Opening Ceremony, and world tours of top artists, captivating viewers.
The teaser, with messages like "Now is the era where performance directors create 'works'" and "People who excel in dancing, choreography, and stage direction," hints that 'SWF' is a 'creative war' beyond a simple dance competition. The spotlight is on the performance directors, who have been the unseen hands behind globally acclaimed stages, as they engage in an intense 'work war.'
Despite the lineup not being fully revealed, fans are speculating about the participants based on the silhouettes of various directors captured in the teaser. Anticipation is building over which 'world-class' directors will participate in this all-gender competition that transcends gender and genre boundaries.
The production team stated, "The world now enjoys K-POP performances as independent 'works.' If viewers have experienced the performance directors' capabilities and the overwhelming scale of stages through the 'mega crew mission' in the 'Street' series, 'SWF' will be the ultimate 'directing war' with legendary stages every week." They added, "As performance directors, who were once behind-the-scenes supporters, now take center stage, expect a different level of stage excitement and drama this August."
