Chefs Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yoon Reunite for New Netflix Show 'Choi Kang Road - Food Spoiler'

Renowned for their introverted personalities, chefs Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yoon have reunited for the new variety show 'Choi Kang Road - Food Spoiler' following their appearance on Netflix's 'Black and White Chef.' Defconn, who has closely observed the two chefs, humorously remarked, "Their chemistry is like an old married couple," comparing them to the dynamic duo Ok-soon and Young-chul from 'I Am SOLO.'

On the 17th, a press conference for SBS's new variety show 'Choi Kang Road - Food Spoiler' was held at Sims Space in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included chefs Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yoon, singer Defconn, and producers Son Jung-min and Ha Jung-seok.

'Choi Kang Road - Food Spoiler' is a high-end culinary roadshow that reveals the secrets of cooking and the intellectual pleasure of gastronomy. Choi Kang-rok, Kim Do-yoon, and Defconn travel across the country, unveiling the spoilers of flavors that enhance the taste.

Choi Kang-rok explained his decision to join the program, saying, "I don't usually speak up unless asked. I know a lot about food, but I only answer when someone asks. This program allows me to naturally talk about food, so I decided to participate. Despite being introverted, I put on a mask once again."

When asked about his chemistry with Kim Do-yoon, Choi Kang-rok laughed, "I'm not sure yet. We might end up not speaking to each other after this, as there were some clashes." He added, "Our knowledge and experiences with food differ, so we often had opposing opinions, but it was enjoyable."

Kim Do-yoon shared, "I've been a chef for 34 years, and I thought this program would allow me to share my stories as a chef, so I accepted the offer." He humorously added, "I haven't done much broadcasting, so I learned a lot this time. I realized the difference experience makes and am upgrading myself during filming."

When asked if there's anyone he'd like to join for a potential second season, he replied, "I only focused on filming and haven't thought about anything else." Kim Do-yoon also joked, "I'm not close with other chefs. I'm devoted to chef Choi Kang-rok," bringing laughter to the event.

Defconn plays the role of the mood maker, leading the two quiet chefs in 'Choi Kang Road - Food Spoiler.' He shared his reason for joining, "I initially declined because I'm not fit for outdoor activities, but I was persuaded. I thought this program might open a new era of variety shows for introverts." He added, "I was curious about the two chefs and decided to participate, thinking I could ask questions on behalf of the viewers."

Regarding the chemistry between Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yoon, Defconn laughed, "As you can see in the teaser, they have the vibe of a friendly old couple." He continued, "There's a charming bromance-like vibe. Just the two of them are as captivating as 'I Am SOLO.' Choi Kang-rok feels like Young-chul, and Kim Do-yoon like Ok-soon."

Producer Son Jung-min explained the casting criteria, "We were looking for introverts with a magnetic charm. These two chefs fit that description perfectly. After 'Black and White Chef,' I wanted to see more of them, which led to the creation of this variety show."

Son PD also outlined the show's direction, "The core is the story about taste. It's a culinary travel reality show that freely explores food-related stories without being tied to specific restaurants or formats." He added, "These two quiet individuals reveal a surprising charm when they start talking. We hope for your interest."

'Choi Kang Road - Food Spoiler' premieres on the 21st at 9 PM.
