BLACKPINK's Jisoo and Agency Address Family-Related Rumors with Legal Action Warning
The controversy began when reports emerged about a person, known to be the brother of a girl group member, being arrested for allegedly assaulting a female internet broadcaster. Speculation that this individual was Jisoo's brother prompted the agency to issue a clarification.
Furthermore, the agency clarified that they have not provided any financial or legal support to the individual in question and have no plans to do so in the future. They emphasized that claims of the individual being part of Blisoo's management or having established the agency with the artist are false, expressing strong regret over the association of the artist's name and image with unrelated matters.
Finally, Blisoo warned that they would take legal action without leniency or settlement against those who create or spread malicious posts. This move is seen as a strong stance against the spread of false information and defamation, aiming to protect the independently working artist and mitigate family-related risks.
Official Statement from BLACKPINK's Jisoo
This is Eun Hyun-ho, attorney at Kim & Chang Law Office, representing Blisoo.
We express serious regret over the indiscriminate acts of associating the artist and Blisoo with family-related issues that have been spreading through some media reports, online communities, and social media, based on false information.
Firstly, the current issues being raised are entirely unrelated to the artist and Blisoo, and many of the contents being circulated online are unverified speculation or outright falsehoods.
The artist has been living independently since her early trainee days, separated from her family for a long time, and is not aware of or involved in the individual's private matters.
Additionally, while the artist received limited advice and communication from family members during the preparation for Blisoo's establishment, no family member has ever received compensation or participated in decision-making. Since then, the agency has been managed completely independently without any involvement from family members.
In particular, the claims circulating in some media and online that "the individual and the artist established the agency together" or "the individual is part of Blisoo's management or CEO" are entirely false, and we clarify that the individual has no legal or managerial relationship with Blisoo.
Moreover, Blisoo and the artist have not provided any financial or legal support to the individual and have no plans to do so in the future. They have no interaction or involvement with the matter.
Nevertheless, the continuous spread of false information or the use of the artist's name, likeness, and image in unrelated matters constitutes a clear infringement of rights and defamation.
Therefore, our legal representative warns that we will take all possible civil and criminal legal actions immediately against such acts.
Acts of spreading false information and defamation through posts and distribution
Using the artist's name, likeness, and image in unrelated matters
Publishing or creating content based on speculative information without fact-checking
We clearly state that we will respond strongly without any leniency or settlement against malicious or repetitive post creators and distributors.
