Lee Dong-wook to Star in Netflix's New Series 'Love Affair'
On the 16th, Netflix announced the production of 'Love Affair' and revealed the casting lineup, including Lee Dong-wook, Jeon So-ni, Jung Yu-mi, and Lee Jong-won. The series tells the story of two people who spend an unforgettable night together, leading to a dramatic upheaval in the lives of four individuals.
'Love Affair' begins with 'Ji-hoon' and 'Hoo-kyung' meeting by chance in a foreign land and spending a dreamlike day together. Upon returning to Korea, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other, despite knowing their encounter was a mistake, causing their once peaceful lives to be turned upside down.
The series is directed by Mo Wan-il, known for his acclaimed work on Netflix's 'In the Forest of No One' and the drama 'The World of the Married', praised for his ability to delve deeply into characters' psyches. Mo is expected to bring his unique visual style and tension-filled emotional storytelling to 'Love Affair', capturing the subtle fractures in relationships and emotional waves with intensity. The script is penned by Ha Soo-jin, noted for her realistic emotional portrayals and relatable dialogue in dramas like 'Wedding Clash' and 'Real Estate Jackpot'. Ha is anticipated to weave a complex narrative of character relationships with depth and nuance.
Jeon So-ni plays 'Hoo-kyung', who delves into every aspect of 'Ji-hoon', becoming the central axis of the story. Known for her delicate and intense emotional performances in Netflix series like 'Parasyte', 'Melo Movie', and 'You Killed Me', Jeon is expected to stir the atmosphere as the enigmatic 'Hoo-kyung', whose true intentions remain a mystery.
Jung Yu-mi takes on the role of 'Sun-hee', 'Ji-hoon's wife. Known for her realistic emotional portrayals in Netflix's 'The School Nurse Files', dramas like 'Love on a Tightrope', 'Live', 'Discovery of Love', and films like 'Sleep', 'Kim Ji-young, Born 1982', and 'Train to Busan', Jung is set to express the complex emotions of a character facing shocking truths with her signature detailed acting.
Lastly, Lee Jong-won plays 'Dae-hee', 'Sun-hee's brother, who becomes entangled in an unexpected relationship with 'Hoo-kyung', adding tension to the story. Recognized as a rising star through dramas like 'Drunken Romance', 'Flowers Bloom at Night', 'Golden Spoon', and the film 'Sal Mok Ji', Lee is expected to bring his unique energy and charm, distinct from 'Ji-hoon', to 'Love Affair', establishing himself as a pivotal part of the series' development.
