Comedian Kim Shin-young, who once lost 44kg, has opened up about why she decided to give up on dieting.

On the October 10th episode of MBC's variety show 'I Live Alone,' the daily life of Kim Shin-young, who has been living alone for 14 years, was revealed.

During the episode, she showcased her consistent lifestyle by preparing her own meals from the morning. Her breakfast included rice and bulgogi with glass noodles, catching viewers' attention. While enjoying her meal, Kim candidly shared her thoughts on dieting.

She humorously remarked, “People don’t change. They say your constitution changes, but that’s nonsense. What’s the point of enduring for 13 years if it all comes back in three months?”

Kim then shared a pivotal moment that led to her weight change. She said, “There are ups and downs, but I decided against it.”

When fellow cast member Kian84 asked why she started bulking up, the studio erupted in laughter. Kim revealed, “I didn’t intend to bulk up my body; there was another reason.”

Joy expressed surprise at Kim’s transformation, noting she was once a “dieting evangelist.” Kim explained her decision to stop dieting, saying, “Both my body and mind were withering away.”

She continued, “I witnessed Professor Jeon Yoo-sung’s final moments. He told me, ‘Shin-young, I really want to eat jjambbong, but I can’t. You should eat what you want and enjoy life.’”

This advice changed her perspective.

Kim shared, “Professor Jeon’s words became a reason for me. He saw me refusing food for 13 years, saying ‘I can’t eat that now,’ or ‘I can’t have bread.’ In the end, he told me to eat comfortably.”

She concluded with a smile, “Gaining weight is also part of who I am, so I decided to love myself and eat to my heart’s content.” She added, “There’s a story behind it,” maintaining her trademark cheerful demeanor.
