Kim Joo-ha married a businessman in 2004 and has two children. In 2013, she filed for divorce due to her ex-husband's infidelity and abuse. Although she secured custody, alimony, and 50 million KRW in damages, the court ordered her to pay approximately 1 billion KRW in asset division.

Previously, Kim Joo-ha disclosed on a broadcast that her ex-husband had an affair with a woman living in the building next to theirs. She recounted, "When I presented evidence of his infidelity, he resorted to violence. I have a ruptured eardrum and partial hearing loss in one ear. I was hit twice, and once I fell, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. An hour before a news broadcast, I collapsed and was taken to the hospital, where the doctor asked if I wanted to report it. I said no."
