'Yumi's Cells' Returns with Season 3: Kim Go-eun and Kim Jae-won Share On-Screen Chemistry
On the afternoon of the 7th, a production presentation for the TVING original 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' (hereafter 'Yumi's Cells 3') was held at The Link Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were actors Kim Go-eun, Kim Jae-won, and director Lee Sang-yeob.
'Yumi's Cells 3' follows Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun), who has become a star writer. Her life takes an unexpected turn when a surprising figure enters her mundane routine, leading her to laugh, cry, and fall in love once again in this cell-stimulating romance.
When asked about her chemistry with Kim Jae-won, Kim Go-eun said, "I think it was perfect. It's all captured in Season 3. Watching the highlight video, I found myself smiling even though I was the one acting. The video turned out to be very cute. I hope everyone watches Season 3."
Regarding the ten-year age gap with Kim Jae-won, Kim Go-eun commented, "I visited the dermatologist frequently and learned some MZ generation slang. Jae-won is mature for his age, so the age difference didn't feel significant."
Regarding her hairstyle, Kim Go-eun explained, "I didn't have much hair. It didn't grow much. Many writers have very short hair. Since Yumi works indoors writing, I thought it should be practical." Her short haircut, revealed in a teaser video, received mixed reactions for not matching the original character.
Born in 1991, Kim Go-eun shared that she began her 30s with Yumi. She said, "I genuinely feel like a new chapter in my acting career is opening. While filming Yumi, I discussed with my company how I had worked hard through my 20s, gaining wisdom and experience to use in this new chapter. I was truly happy working on Yumi. Continuing a series holds great significance."
Kim Jae-won expressed, "It was an honor since 'Eun-jung and Sang-yeon.' I only met the younger version of her character, so I never had the chance to work with Go-eun. Meeting her this time was an honor. Senior Kim Go-eun treated me kindly, and she opened up, making it easy to approach her. I learned a lot on set."
Regarding the ten-year age gap with Kim Go-eun, Kim Jae-won said, "If the age difference had been noticeable, it might have been difficult to approach her. But she was just a wonderful, kind, and generous senior. On set, her professionalism was evident, and the age gap was never an issue."
'Yumi's Cells 3' premieres on TVING at 6 PM on the 13th, followed by its first broadcast on tvN at 8:50 PM.
