Korean Actor Kim Yong-gun Opens Up About Life with His Youngest Son

Korean actor Kim Yong-gun recently shared his heartfelt thoughts about his 6-year-old youngest son on the tvN STORY show 'What to Leave Behind,' which aired on the 6th.

During the episode, Kim Yong-gun reunited with fellow actors Lee Young-ja, Jung Sun-hee, and Lim Chang-jung, with whom he had previously worked on 'People of Geumchon House,' to catch up on each other's lives.

When the topic of grandchildren came up, Kim Yong-gun mentioned, "My grandchild is now 30 months old, turning three," and added, "I have another little one to play with," referring to his youngest son.

Kim Yong-gun expressed, "I try to keep up with him, but playing together is tough. I can't keep up," acknowledging the challenges of having a child at an older age. He candidly shared, "It was really hard at first, given my age." However, he added, "My eldest son Ha Jung-woo and my second son told me to think of it as a blessing. The child is innocent."

Kim Yong-gun also shared glimpses of his daily life with his youngest son. He said, "I spend as much time as I can with him. I think about seeing him more, even for just one more day," and mentioned frequent visits to kids' cafes. Initially, he worried about societal judgment, wondering if people would gossip about an older parent raising a young child.

However, he noted a change in perception, saying, "Nowadays, people warmly ask, 'Is he growing well?' or 'Who does he resemble?'" Kim Yong-gun expressed his desire to spend more time with his youngest, acknowledging, "I feel like I don't have much time left."

He didn't hide his affection for his son, sharing, "He calls out 'Dad' so loudly. Sometimes, he wakes up in the middle of the night and comes to lie next to me. When I wake up at dawn, I check the time and wait, wondering if he'll come." He emphasized, "Spending time with him is precious."

In 2021, Kim Yong-gun welcomed his youngest son with his girlfriend, who is 39 years his junior, after a 13-year relationship. He has since occasionally shared stories about his youngest son in public appearances.
