Last winter, Shim Kwon-ho joined 'Joseon's Love Match' in search of love and, at the production team's suggestion, underwent a health check-up, which led to his cancer diagnosis. Shim expressed his initial feelings, saying, "I didn't want to show weakness to others. It felt like an escape from reality. At that time, I wondered why this was happening to me. It felt like I was going to another world alone." He tearfully added, "I thought surgery would make things better. After the 1990 Olympics, everyone said I couldn't do it, but I proved them wrong. I approach everything with the mindset of winning, so I'll beat this cancer too. Now, I have to fight against cancer."

The production team encouraged Shim, saying, "Have a successful surgery." Shim confidently replied, "I've always been victorious," with a smile. Three months later, Shim returned after completing his treatment.

Shim Kwon-ho greeted everyone, "It's been a while. I'm sorry for causing concern. I'm much better now and will continue to show my healthy self," with a bright smile. The production team inquired about his health post-surgery, to which Shim responded, "The doctor said I've improved by eating well and taking care of myself."

His skin also improved after the surgery. Shim noted, "There's no breakout on my face. My skin seems to have gotten better." Regarding his condition post-surgery, he shared, "I played soccer last week and received many compliments. People didn't even know I had been sick."

When asked about his visit to the salon, Shim explained, "Some might think I'm going on a blind date, but I'm actually heading to Jeju Island for some healing time."
