Lee Ye-ji Captivates with Emotional Performance on '1st Place' Show
On the recent episode of MBC's variety show '1st Place', aired on the 5th, Lee Ye-ji delivered a performance that highlighted her delicate emotional expression, bringing her one step closer to the finals.
The episode featured the first round of the 'Line-Up Battle' to select the final contestant for the finals. Lee Ye-ji chose Insooni's 'Father', stating, "This might be my last stage, so while winning is important, I wanted to perform a meaningful song."
Lee Ye-ji added her own interpretation to the lyrics, which express regret and longing for her father, evoking deep empathy. In the latter part of the song, she unleashed her emotions with her signature husky voice, delivering a profound resonance and impact.
After the performance, Lee Ye-ji shared, "I sang this song thinking of my dad, hoping he might help me. Through this song, I want to express my gratitude for raising me well." When asked about her father's reaction to '1st Place', she revealed, "He said, 'You don't have to be first. I'm very proud of you,'" touching the hearts of many.
Huh Gak, who witnessed the performance, commented, "The words 'You don't have to be first' are so sad," wiping away tears. Park Chang-geun said, "You don't have to be first. You did really well," while Baek Ji-young offered warm encouragement, saying, "I hope you remember your heartfelt approach to singing and continue to move forward step by step."
Meanwhile, Lee Ye-ji will meet her fans at the 'Our Ballad' TOP 6 concert, held on May 9th and 10th at the Olympic Hall in Seoul Olympic Park.
