Insooni's Daughter Overcomes Tragic Accident in LA, Embraces Life with Resilience
On the October 30th episode of TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Love', singer Insooni was shown dining with her family and staff.
Insooni's daughter, a Stanford University alumna, joined the global IT company M after graduation, marking a successful career path. Insooni's chorus asked her about her campus life, to which she replied, "I was very happy. I wanted to go to college quickly to enjoy campus life." She added, "During my junior year, I interned at M and joined the company right after graduation."
She continued, "I shouted for someone to call 911. I don't remember anything after the ambulance arrived." She recounted, "Before surgery, the anesthesiologist, who was Korean, comforted me, and I cried a lot. He asked if he could cut my wedding ring, and I agreed." She added, "The doctors said there was no blood circulation in my finger, which could lead to necrosis. A week later, I returned to Korea."
In Korea, she underwent surgery. Insooni stated, "She had seven surgeries at the hand surgery department." Unfortunately, her daughter lost her left pinky finger.
Insooni's husband reflected, "It's all about perspective. If she had been trapped or injured elsewhere, it could have been worse. Although her hand is now impaired, imagine if she had been bedridden. We would have been devastated." He added, "I know it's hard. It pains me every time I see her. I still get choked up thinking about it."
In an interview with the production team, Insooni shared her feelings about the incident. "When she said, 'Mom, I hurt my hand,' I thought it was just a minor injury. I didn't realize how serious it was. I regret my initial reaction and feel guilty. Seeing her injured hand broke my heart. I held back my tears, thinking it would be harder for her if I cried." Her husband added, "Our daughter had moments of breakdown but didn't show it to us." Insooni expressed gratitude for her daughter's resilience, "She might have trauma, but she managed to overcome it."
Insooni revealed, "I wanted to get her a prosthetic hand, but she refused. When she posted pictures of her hand on social media, I was worried. I didn't know if she was strong or struggling."
Two years after the accident, her daughter wore her wedding ring again, overcoming her trauma. She stated, "I feel more confident embracing who I am without a prosthetic." Insooni expressed her gratitude, "I'm thankful she has proudly overcome her acquired handicap."
