Intense Confrontation Unfolds in 'Dr. Shin' as Past Lovers Face Off

Top star Baek Se-ra's mother, Song Ji-in, and her past lover, Ji Young-san, reveal a stark contrast in emotions.

TV CHOSUN's weekend mini-series 'Dr. Shin' (written by Phoebe, Im Sung-han) is a medical thriller drama about a genius doctor challenging the realm of the divine and a woman losing her soul as her brain deteriorates overnight.

In the previous episode, the complex past relationship between Hyun Ran-hee (played by Song Ji-in) and Paul Kim (played by Ji Young-san) was hinted at, sparking curiosity. The top star daughter, Momo (played by Baek Se-ra), and Hyun Ran-hee, whose brain has been swapped with Momo's, sent a mysterious text to Paul Kim saying, "Tell her mom was very sorry. Make sure to find her," just before her body, now with Momo's brain, was about to die. Later, Paul Kim received news from a detective agency that "it seems we've found your daughter," drawing attention to who Hyun Ran-hee and Paul Kim's real daughter might be.

In the upcoming episode 5 of 'Dr. Shin,' airing on the 28th at 9:10 PM, Song Ji-in and Ji Young-san will face a 'catastrophic confrontation' with completely different expressions and emotions. The scene takes place before the brain swap surgery between Momo and Hyun Ran-hee, where Hyun Ran-hee brings wine to Paul Kim under the pretense of an exhibition. Hyun Ran-hee exudes a provocative smile with a determined look, while Paul Kim maintains a stern expression before erupting in anger.

Ahead of filming the 'catastrophic reunion' scene, Song Ji-in and Ji Young-san meticulously rehearsed their lines and emotional cues, preparing more thoroughly than ever. Song Ji-in portrayed the emotional gap of Hyun Ran-hee, who smiles brightly at Paul Kim but then freezes in shock. Ji Young-san captured Paul Kim's pent-up emotions, which explode into anger, with trembling eyes and breath.

The production team stated, "This scene will be a bombshell moment that hints at the relationship between Hyun Ran-hee and Paul Kim," adding, "Watch for the intense performances of Song Ji-in and Ji Young-san, who lead the immersion into the characters of 'Dr. Shin' with their drastic transformations in hairstyle and appearance."

Episode 5 of 'Dr. Shin' will air on the 28th at 9:10 PM, and episode 6 will be simultaneously released on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play on the 29th at 10:30 PM.
