Actor Kim Byung-se Opens Up About Marriage and Decision to Forego Parenthood

Actor Kim Byung-se (58), who has been largely inactive in the acting scene since 2018, recently shared the reasons behind his decision to forgo plans for children with his wife, who is 15 years his junior.

On the October 22nd episode of SBS's 'My Ugly Duckling,' Kim Byung-se and his wife, Heo Seung-hee, appeared together, offering a glimpse into their daily life as they enter their eighth year of marriage.

Kim, who married his wife in 2019, currently resides in the United States. The couple attempted in vitro fertilization for about 4 to 5 years but ultimately decided to abandon their plans for children due to his wife's health issues.

He candidly shared, "Given my age, I thought I might leave this world first, so we planned for a child. However, my wife's health deteriorated, leading us to stop the procedures. Now, we focus on our life together." He added, "My wife is someone without flaws," expressing his deep affection.

Life in LA After Halting IVF Treatments

The episode also showcased the couple's Los Angeles home, a property featuring a swimming pool and expansive lawn on a 300-pyeong plot. Kim revealed, "My wife has full control over our finances," drawing attention.

His wife, Heo Seung-hee, is a businesswoman and jewelry brand CEO who actively participates in design. Kim explained, "She has an office in Korea, so she frequently travels back and forth for work."

Their Love Story: A 15-Year Age Gap

The couple's love story was also revealed. Kim met his wife in the U.S. in 2018 after attending his mother's funeral. Introduced by a mutual friend, he was smitten at first sight and stayed in a motel for three weeks to express his feelings.
