The husband attributes their discord to his business failures. Once a successful broadcast journalist who won awards, he left his job to start a business, but repeated failures led to cracks in their once-harmonious family.

However, the wife and daughter find it hard to sympathize with his confession. The wife, in particular, shocks by saying, “It’s because his business failed that we are at least this close. If he had succeeded, the family would have been even more unhappy.”
