MBN's 'K-Bread' is the first-ever 'K-Bakery Survival' show, aiming to find the world's best pastry and bakery chefs, riding the wave of the 'K-Bread' trend. Contestants' bakeries have become popular destinations, and their recipes are widely shared on social media, garnering immense support from bread enthusiasts nationwide. Despite starting with a 2.0% viewership rating on its debut, the show has seen a decline, hitting a low of 1.1% on March 15.
The 8th episode, airing tonight at 9:50 PM, will reveal the results of the 'Semi-Final' featuring the TOP10 contestants: Kwak Dong-wook, Kim Si-yeop, Kim Jin-seo, Sung Min-soo, Yoon Hwa-young, Lee Kyung-moo, Lee Hye-sung, Jang Kyung-joo, Joo Young-seok, and Hwang Ji-oh. The selected TOP7 will compete in the 'Final Round 1', where they will collaborate with top chefs to create a 'Bread Meal' as the main mission.
The star chefs include Michelin-starred Chinese cuisine expert Hwang Jin-sun, Korea's 16th culinary master and Japanese cuisine specialist Ahn Yoo-sung, Thai cuisine ambassador Kim Yoo-ah, French chef Lee Seung-jun known for his fusion of traditional French dishes with naturalism, Korean chef Lee Won-il who excels in both Korean cuisine and baking, veteran French chef Oh Se-deuk with 26 years of experience, and fusion Korean cuisine genius Cho Seo-hyung. They will join forces with the TOP7 to elevate the excitement of the 'Bread Meal' mission. The anticipation builds as viewers wonder which chef will pair with which contestant.
Shortly after the mission begins, Korean chef Lee Won-il urgently calls for a pause, piquing curiosity about what he urgently needs to discuss with the masters and participants.
Masters Kim Na-rae, Lee Seok-won, and Kwon Sung-joon express concern over the possibility of raw fish being used in the Japanese-inspired bread, adding tension to the competition. A contestant's comment, "It was a complete mess," and the sounds of distress from various corners heighten the sense of unease. The finals, split into two rounds, will determine the ultimate winner.
In the 'Finals', Jung Eun Park, CEO of New York's top Korean restaurant 'Atomix', will appear as a special master. Known for elevating Korean cuisine in New York, Park's focus on the harmony between bread and dishes is highly anticipated.
The 8th episode of 'K-Bread' airs on March 22 at 9:50 PM.
