The episode aired on the 21st, revealing Shin Irang's relentless pursuit of the truth behind the death of high school student Kim Soo-ah, played by Oh Ye-ju. What was initially dismissed as a simple fall was unveiled as a case driven by jealousy and ambition. This gripping revelation led to a nationwide viewership rating of 9.1%, peaking at 11.3%, marking the show's highest ratings yet. The drama also dominated the Saturday mini-series slot, proving its popularity.
Shin Irang's investigation focused on composer Go Jong-seok, portrayed by Jung Si-heon, as a prime suspect. Discovering Kim Soo-ah's phone signal near Go's residence, Shin Irang infiltrated the area, uncovering evidence of Go's theft of Kim's original compositions. A heated phone call revealed Go's fear of another person knowing about the stolen work, leading Shin Irang to suspect Emma, Kim's close trainee friend, played by Cheon Young-min.
Simultaneously, Han Na-hyun, played by Lee Som, independently delved into Go Jong-seok's suspicious past, marked by repeated legal disputes over copyright infringement and false accusations. Despite her skepticism about Shin Irang's unconventional methods, she supported his pursuit of the truth. The 'audition score sheet' she obtained became the crucial 'smoking gun', confirming Shin Irang's suspicions. Emma stood to gain from Kim Soo-ah's absence, securing a debut spot among the top seven.
Shin Irang set a trap, pretending to protect Emma while handing her a disabled stun gun to determine her role as victim or perpetrator. Emma's eventual attack on Shin Irang led to her confession, revealing her jealousy of Kim Soo-ah's talent and happiness despite being excluded from auditions. This twisted envy culminated in Emma pushing Kim from the rooftop, a tragic outcome of her unchecked desires.
Following the resolution, Shin Irang fulfilled Kim Soo-ah's final wish by reuniting her with her mother, played by Jo In. Misunderstood as having abandoned her daughter, the mother had actually left Kim with her grandmother due to impending blindness from viral keratitis. Kim's posthumous cornea donation allowed her mother to regain sight, a legal process overseen by Shin Irang. The mother vowed to live well for her daughter's sake, allowing Kim Soo-ah to rest in peace. It was a heartwarming conclusion befitting 'Shin-Irang Law Office'.
The episode ended with a preview of Shin Irang's transformation, as he confidently accepted his role as a 'ghost lawyer', ready to tackle a new case involving a murdered husband, whose ghost seeks his help. Han Na-hyun also took on the case of the wife acquitted of the murder, setting the stage for another intriguing collaboration between the two lawyers. 'Shin-Irang Law Office' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM on SBS.
