Actor Park Shin-yang shocked viewers by revealing his current lifestyle living in a container.

On the October 20th episode of KBS 2TV's 'New Release, Convenience Store' (hereafter 'Convenience Store'), Park Shin-yang made a surprise appearance.

Park Shin-yang was shown living in a warehouse in Andong, Gyeongbuk, deeply immersed in his art. The large warehouse situated in a barren field, along with the old container inside, was a stark contrast to his previous 'national actor' image. The cast expressed their surprise, saying, "It looks like the construction isn't finished," and "Does someone actually live here?" Boom humorously added, "Isn't he like a beggar?"

The space where Park Shin-yang lives is a small container inside the warehouse. The interior showed signs of age and dust, with minimal traces of daily life. He appeared in stained work clothes, drawing attention.

Park Shin-yang explained, "These are the clothes I always wear when working. It's so cold that I have to wear ski pants," adding, "I'm too busy to change clothes, so I keep wearing the same ones while working." This was not a simple concept but a result of his dedication to his work.

He moved around the warehouse on an electric scooter, showcasing his artworks. The space served not only as a residence but also as a studio and exhibition hall. Park Shin-yang revealed, "This is an exhibition hall. I've painted about 200 pieces over 13 years."

Why is the National Actor Living in a Warehouse in Andong?

The transition to becoming an artist was influenced by health issues. Park Shin-yang shared, "I injured my back during 'Lovers in Paris,' and after a herniated disc surgery, I was unable to get up due to aftereffects." He also developed hyperthyroidism, making normal activities difficult.

Park Shin-yang said, "I was wondering what to do next, and that's when I started painting." Over the past 13 years, he has quietly continued his work, recently achieving a milestone. "I curated my works and held an exhibition at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts," he announced.
