On the October 18th episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star', episode 957 featured a special titled 'Laughter Public Servants' with guests Boom, Moon Se-yoon, Nam Chang-hee, and Kim Sun-tae.
Kim Sun-tae, who was three days into his resignation at the time of recording, shared his reasons for leaving, saying, "I wanted to quit when the applause was the loudest. My YouTube channel also reached 1 million subscribers, so everything aligned perfectly." When asked about his previous commitment to remain a public servant in Chungju, Kim humorously replied, "I left my bones there but took my flesh with me."
Personal Channel Reaches 1.48 Million Subscribers, "There's Fear Too"
After resigning, Kim Sun-tae received offers from various agencies but stated, "I'm tired of belonging to an organization right now," indicating he has no plans to join any at the moment.
Kim's personal channel now boasts approximately 1.48 million subscribers. He admitted, "There's some fear. Subscribers increased even before I uploaded videos," adding, "I need to seize the opportunity while it's here."
Kim also addressed rumors surrounding his resignation. He clarified, "There were rumors of bullying, but that's absolutely not true. Everyone treated me well. Jealousy and rumors exist everywhere. It's completely baseless. I also have creative limits and need to know when to step back. I worked on channel duties for seven years. Most of my colleagues were very supportive and there were no issues."
Regarding rumors of moving to the Blue House, he stated, "As a public servant, I didn't even consider it. There were no concrete offers, and even if there were, I'd prefer to create content freely rather than work in an organization."
Completed a Year-Long Handover, "Doing Well Now"
Claims of leaving without a handover were also false. Kim explained, "I didn't resign suddenly; I conducted a handover for a year. I gradually taught my successor and ensured they could manage independently six months prior. They have improved significantly, and I didn't interfere with their videos shortly before resigning. They're doing well now, and I always support them."
