Ha Ji-won Shines in ENA's New Drama 'Climax' with a Dual Role Performance
In the episode aired on the 17th, Ha Ji-won portrays Choo Sang-ah, a fallen 'nation's first love' actress embroiled in a tax evasion scandal. Her character's desperate comeback in the first episode evolves into a more complex and dual-sided portrayal, expertly driving the narrative forward.
During the broadcast, Choo Sang-ah (played by Ha Ji-won) is seen dedicating herself to filming the low-budget project 'Tears of Seeds' as part of her comeback. Despite suffering a knee injury during filming, she shows a considerate side by not complaining to the staff. However, she also faces humiliation when she is pelted with eggs by Lee Yang-mi (played by Cha Joo-young), the influential daughter-in-law of the third-largest conglomerate WR Group, leaving her pitifully alone in the hallway, evoking sympathy from viewers.
Following the egg incident, Choo Sang-ah directly approaches Kwon Se-myung, the chairman of WR Group and Lee Yang-mi's husband, greeting him with, "It's been a while, Chairman," which freezes the expression of her husband Bang Tae-seop (played by Joo Ji-hoon), who is eavesdropping on her in real-time. The episode ends with Kwon Se-myung's piercing gaze at Choo Sang-ah, and her meaningful look back at him, sparking curiosity about future developments.
Adding to the intrigue, Choo Sang-ah's every move is now being monitored by fellow actress Han Jeong-won (played by Nana), and the mysterious backstories of characters surrounding her, including Park Jae-sang's mention of the 'Oh Kwang-jae murder case' and his request for a private meeting, as well as her secret rendezvous with Kwon Se-myung, further deepen the plot.
'Climax' airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM.
