Shocking Family Dynamics: Husband's Close Bond with Sister Causes Marital Strife
On the October 17th episode of tvN STORY's 'Lee Ho-sun's Counseling Center', a couple married for eight years shared their concerns.
The wife expressed, "My husband talks to his sister 3 to 4 times a week, and each call lasts over an hour," adding, "He may be married to me in name, but his heart belongs to his sister and mother. I always feel like I'm in the background."
The conflict extended into their daily lives. The wife noted, "Even when we go shopping together, I pick out things for our kids, while my husband prioritizes gifts for his sister." She also shared another incident, "At 1 AM, my husband came home from work and said, 'I'm going to eat chicken at my sister's place.'"
She further revealed that when she contacted him about picking up their child, he didn't answer for over an hour because he was on the phone with his sister. In a burst of emotion, the wife declared she would no longer see her sister-in-law.
The wife lamented, "I hoped my husband would mediate, but he said nothing," adding, "That was an even bigger wound." Eventually, she experienced depression and stated, "I asked for a divorce."
Referring to the 'TCI (Temperament and Character Inventory)' results, Lee noted, "The husband has a high dependency, but it's directed towards his sister, not his wife." He advised, "Moving forward, the couple should prioritize their relationship and set clear boundaries."
