New Drama 'Climax' Aims to Surpass 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' with Strong Debut
According to Nielsen Korea on the 17th, the first episode of 'Climax,' aired the previous day, recorded a 2.9% viewership rating among nationwide paid households.
The premiere episode unveiled the desires and relationships of characters surrounding the center of power in South Korea, marking the beginning of a grand power game.
Prosecutor Bang Tae-seop, played by Ju Ji-hoon, born as the son of a factory worker, decides to become a prosecutor to avenge his father's death, who was embroiled in an unjust incident. However, he soon realizes that the prosecution organization is also a closed kingdom dominated by lineage and power. To climb higher, he marries star actress Choo Sang-ah, played by Ha Ji-won, drawing public attention.
Meanwhile, in the political arena, the power dynamics start to shake around Mayor Nam Hye-hoon, who has emerged as a strong presidential candidate. In the business world, a power struggle intensifies between WR Group's heir Kwon Jong-wook, played by Oh Jung-se, and the group's influential figure Lee Yang-mi, played by Cha Joo-young, adding to the tension.
From the first episode, 'Climax' depicted a massive power structure intertwined with politics, business, and the entertainment industry, along with the complex desires of its characters. The show heightened engagement with its intense characters and fast-paced storyline. The performances of renowned actors such as Ju Ji-hoon, Ha Ji-won, Nana, Oh Jung-se, and Cha Joo-young further raised expectations.
'Climax' airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM.
