MBC Every1's 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' Unveils Official Poster Ahead of Revamped Season
MBC Every1's popular travel variety show 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' has released its official poster.

Set to premiere on October 19 at 8:30 PM, 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' is a pioneering show in the realm of foreigner travel entertainment in South Korea and a signature content of MBC Every1. Since its debut in 2017, the show has captivated audiences by offering fresh enjoyment and cultural empathy through the real-life travel stories of foreign friends visiting Korea from various countries.

The upcoming season promises significant changes, drawing attention from fans. Expanding from the original format where a local host invites friends, the show now allows any foreigner who loves Korea to become the protagonist of their travel story, even without local connections. The production team has carefully selected unexpected personalities who will uncover Korea's hidden charms, reaffirming the show's strength as a signature variety program.

The poster, unveiled on October 16, features MCs Kim Jun-hyun and DinDin against a backdrop of a blue sky and a field of yellow canola flowers, showcasing a large open suitcase. Behind them, iconic landmarks such as Namsan Tower, traditional hanok with beautiful dancheong, Cheomseongdae, and Lotte Tower capture the essence of Korea's past and present.

Additionally, symbols of Korean history like the statue of King Sejong and Buddha statues hint at the show's deep exploration of Korea's rich history and spirit, promising more than just a superficial tour of famous sites. This season aims to delve into a 'real Korean journey,' offering a profound look into the country's heritage.

The poster's intricate details add to the excitement, featuring beloved Korean foods like bungeoppang, K-chicken, and samgyeopsal, as well as cultural elements like hanbok and mugunghwa. These elements suggest a vibrant journey that goes beyond ordinary tourism, promising an immersive 'travel reality' experience.

The playful mini characters of Kim Jun-hyun and DinDin, posing mischievously beyond the suitcase, evoke a sense of excitement and the desire to embark on a journey with them. The return of the original MC duo, known for their perfect chemistry, has sparked interest in the upcoming Korean travel adventures.

The production team stated, “This poster symbolizes the program's identity of capturing 'everything about Korean travel.' We have prepared thoroughly to combine the warmth of the original perspective with the freshness of the revamped format, ensuring viewers can once again fall in love with 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?'”

Meanwhile, the show has undergone an MC reshuffle. Former MCs Alberto and Lee Hyun-yi have stepped down, with DinDin joining the team. Alberto recently faced controversy over comments made about historical issues between Korea and Japan. During a YouTube channel discussion in November last year, he mentioned, “Our Leo is very interested in Korean history and often says, 'Mom, the Japanese were really bad.' But since we have Japanese family members, I advise him to 'listen to both sides.'”
Alberto later apologized on his social media, stating, “I deeply reflect on causing discomfort and disappointment due to my shortcomings. The historical issues between Korea and Japan are heavy topics filled with the pain and memories of many people. Despite this, I made a careless remark without fully considering the weight of the issue, and I take full responsibility for it.”
