TV Personality Seo Dong-joo Shares Emotional IVF Journey with Fans

TV personality Seo Dong-joo recently opened up about her emotional journey through IVF treatment, shedding tears as she shared her experience.

On the 12th, Seo Dong-joo's YouTube channel 'Seo Dong-joo's Another. Do. Dong.' featured a video titled "[Infertility Vlog] You Seem Like Two Lines, Not Two Lines, But Like Two Lines... | Revealing Pregnancy Test Results After First Embryo Transfer."

In the video, Seo Dong-joo detailed the process of confirming her pregnancy after an 'embryo transfer.' She explained, "I had the embryo transfer on February 21, and today is March 7, exactly 14 days later," adding, "On the 7th day after the transfer, two lines appeared on the pregnancy test."

However, the subsequent blood test results did not meet her expectations.

Seo Dong-joo shared, "On the 9th day, I had my first 'blood test,' and the result was '46.7,' which was too low." Generally, a pregnancy is confirmed with a 'score of 5' or higher, but for a normal pregnancy, the score should nearly double every two days.

She continued, "I held onto hope and took a second test, which showed '55.5.' Normally, it should have been around 93, nearly double the '46.7,'" she explained.

In the third test, Seo Dong-joo revealed, "I had another blood test, and it came out as 83.4. The numbers were still ambiguous, which made me anxious."

She explained that when the increase in numbers is gradual, there are three possibilities: "ectopic pregnancy, chemical miscarriage, or the possibility of a normal pregnancy."

Seo Dong-joo reflected, "At that time, I was going through days when I couldn't smile," adding, "I cried a lot the day I heard the first blood test results."

She continued, "As days passed, I felt a bit more at ease. I was grateful that the embryo had implanted at all."

She particularly noted, "Because of my age, it took two years just to collect three embryos," adding, "I felt hopeful that the first transfer resulted in implantation."

While waiting for the blood test results, Seo Dong-joo was having a meal with her husband and production team when the final results were delivered. Upon checking the results, she was speechless as the number '123' exceeded the 'normal range.'

Seo Dong-joo expressed disbelief, saying, "I can't believe it. Even the professors said it wouldn't work," adding, "In dramas, when two lines appear, everyone celebrates, but I have so many hurdles." Despite her frustration, she expressed relief, saying, "I think I can sleep well tonight."

Her husband embraced her silently, and Seo Dong-joo eventually shed tears. She said, "I heard that anything over 100 is okay, and it came out as 123," expressing her disbelief.

Meanwhile, Seo Dong-joo is the daughter of the late Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee. She married in 2010 but divorced in 2014. She remarried a man four years her junior last June.
